Wood-based laminate is a multi-layer floor that can look like hardwood, ceramic tile, and even stone. Laminate flooring is warm in all seasons and comes in planks or tiles. You can also get waterproof laminate, which will stand up to water for about a day.
Luxury vinyl plank, also known as LVP or as a tile, LVT, is waterproof. The plank mimics hardwood flooring, while tile can look like hardwood, ceramic, or stone. It comes in varying degrees of thickness, from 8 millimeters to 20. The thicker it is, the more durable the vinyl will be to scratches, dent, nicks, and scuffs. The majority of luxury vinyl sits on a floating floor but can be glued down as an option.
Carpet
Carpet is an excellent choice for your floors, even ones that have pets. Today's carpets come in different fibers, from nylon to polyester, to triexta, to wool. Nylon has a remarkable ability to last a long time and resist matting. Polyester comes in a wide variety of colors and is naturally an excellent stain-resistant carpet. Triexta is the best of nylon and polyester put together. Wool is an all-green and all-natural fiber that has fantastic colors and depth to it.
Tile
Tile is durable and waterproof when it is glazed ceramic. It is a favorite for bathrooms and kitchens, and not just on floors! Tile also goes on countertops and walls as backsplashes. You can have tile as small as you want or as big as you want. The colors and combinations of styles and patterns are endless.
Hardwood
Hardwood comes in two types, solid and engineered. But don't worry, they look the same on the surface. The solid type is the same thickness throughout the board. Engineered hardwood is a sliver of hardwood on the surface, with three layers of wood underneath that lock together like a jigsaw. The engineered hardwood is more for higher-than-normal moisture places, like a basement. It comes in various species, including maple, cherry, hickory, oak, and ash.
